Pacific Software Architects was founded in 2007 by our chief software architect, Jay Knight. Jay noticed that recent advances in Internet-related technology was driving down the cost of software development. The same free software that automated Internet online services could be customized to automate small businesses' workflows. And this could be done fairly cheap. Unfortunately most small businesses were not taking advantage of this.
Often times, small companies know they could be using software to better manage their information, or to automate their internal processes. But typically they only had two options: 1) purchase an off the shelf product, or 2) build a custom desktop application. Both of these options were often expensive, and too cost-prohibitive for a small company to consider. Jay realized that another option was becoming increasingly viable: 3) build a custom web-based application for the desktop. This third option could provide the same (and often better) results compared to the first two, and at a fraction of the cost.
So, Jay started a small side-business, creating custom web-based applications in his spare time. After two years, Jay decided to focus on PSA full-time. He was later joined by Haley Morris and Marc Walters.
